Unique Terroir
Oregon's unique terroir is the soul of their wines; they are fortunate to have access to incredible vineyards. Through low yields and sustainable farming practices their vineyards produce wines of amazing purity. We are pleased to carry one great, small producer, Monetbruno of the Willamette Valley.
Montebruno's Pinot Noir (as featured here) is produced from three small vineyards where yeilds are kept low (1 to 2 tons per acre).
Slow ripening is encouraged to ensure complex flavor development, balanced acidity and soft tannins, while trying to avoid excessive potential alcohol levels.
In the winery the grapes are patiently sorted and separated from their stems while keeping the individual berries whole. Natural yeast fermentation slowly occurs in small open top vessels where the caps are punched down by hand. Post fermentation the wine is transferred into French Oak Barriques (10% new). The wine develops in these barrels for 18 months before bottling.
Montebruno Pinot Noir is bottled unfiltered and unfined with a minimum of sulfites added. In the bottle the wine matures for at least 6 months before release.
